Internal migrants for studies and precarious living conditions

This study analyzes the determinants of the precariousness of the living conditions of the families that receive and house the internal migrants for studies in the city. It highlights the realities according to which internal migration for study purposes is motivated by the poverty of rural families as a result of the insecurity experienced in rural areas and, in addition, that linked to the pursuit of university studies in the city. He then demonstrates that the determinants of the precariousness of the living conditions of the host families are justified by the overcrowding in the said families, the intercultural power relations (urban and rural) and the crisis of governability within the host families. For this reason, the restoration of security through the reinforcement of the military capacities of the loyal forces in the rural territories of South Kivu, the creation of employment, the stabilization of the exchange rate on the market, the promotion of acts aiming at the change of mentalities, the eradication of the obsolete policies of management in the families, are the suggestions and expectations for the improvement of their living conditions in the city of Bukavu.
