Imam Tahyudin est né à Indramayu. Il a terminé son programme de doctorat à l'université de Kanazawa, au Japon, dans le domaine de l'intelligence artificielle. Il est doyen de la faculté d'informatique de l'université Amikom Purwokerto. Ses recherches portent sur l'apprentissage automatique, l'IdO et les systèmes d'aide au développement.
