Works include Civilizing Marriage: Family, Nation and State in the German Empire (forthcoming); The First Modern Risk: Workplace Accidents and the Origins of European Social States (Cambridge, 2018) and Marriage, Law and Modernity (Bloomsbury, 2017).

Julia Woesthoff is associate professor at DePaul University, USA. She has published a variety of articles related to questions of intermarriage between German Christian women and foreign Muslim men in postwar West Germany.
