Introduction to clinical microbiology

This book describes the basics of sampling, storage and transport of test material and microbiological methods of identification of opportunistic pathogens. A chapter is devoted to healthcare-associated infections and the sanitary and epidemiological regimen of healthcare facilities. The basic reasons of activity of opportunistic microorganisms and increase of number of opportunistic infections are stated. A description of some diseases caused by opportunistic infections is given. This monograph is intended for medical laboratory technicians, bacteriologists, students, interns, residents of medical schools, as well as medical college students involved in the training of laboratory technicians of bacteriology and microbiology laboratories.
