Inventions towards Smart Home and Internet of Things

Imagine a microwave oven that learns the target temperature of the foods you consume and automatically recommend the temperature, heat the food to that temperature and you never need to guess the warm time. How about a shower where you can set your desired water temperature using a display panel and the temperature is kept fixed using a closed loop system for a better shower experience. Is the diaper of a baby wet and you did not notice it for several hours - imagine a gadget that notifies you in your smartphone when the diaper needs to be changed. All these imaginations are now a reality. This book presents five state-of-the-art Smart Home and Internet of Things projects - that will shape our everyday life in the near future.

Tareq Khan received his Ph.D. degree from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of University of Saskatchewan, Canada in 2013. He is currently working as a visiting Assistant professor in Miami University, USA. His research interests include wearable technology, real time health monitoring, capsule endoscopy and image processing.
