Investigation of Vegetable Oils In Semi-Adiabatic Diesel Engine

The present fossil fuels are fast depleting and their abundance may exhaust in another 40 to 50 years. The cost of fossil fuels are increasing day by day and increasing exhaust emissions from these fossil fuels leads to air pollution. The present fossil fuel crisis associated with increase in vehicle population is causing concern all over the world. All these make the engineer to think of alternative fuels for diesel in diesel engines. The vegetable oils may promise for substituting the fossil fuels. The vegetable oils that are renewable sources of energy for diesel engines are gaining importance. Many researchers tested number of vegetable oils in diesel engines and found that the characteristics of wide variety of vegetable oils fall with in fairly narrow band and are close to those of diesel oil. However, they lead to problems such as gum formation tendency, leaving high carbon residue and their viscosities are higher compared to diesel and this causes flow problems. Powerful ignition aid and hot surface ignition engines were found to be solution to these problems to some extent.

Dr. Hiregoudar Yerrennagoudaru hat mehr als 70 Projekte für UG (BE) und mehr als 20 Projekte für M.Tech geleitet. Er hat zwei Doktoranden hervorgebracht und weitere 06 Studenten betreut. Er ist Mitglied in vielen (14) Berufsverbänden, war technischer Vorsitzender bei vielen internationalen Konferenzen und hielt viele eingeladene Vorträge in Indien und im Ausland.
