Investigation on Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer through Microchannel

Nowadays due to increasing demand of high heat dissipation devices in various fields of application, there is a need for development of cooling technologies for removing high heat fluxes from considerably small areas, one of which is the microchannel heat sink. The flow pattern in this type of devices is found to be closely coupled with channel size, heat flux, and mass flux. Therefore, in the present study, pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics of a single-phase micro-channel heat sink are investigated both experimentally and numerically. Two types of microchannels have been investigated in this work: straight microchannel and diverging microchannel.
