Isaac Hayes (Covington, Tennessee, États-Unis, 20 août 1942 Memphis, Tennessee, 10 août 2008) était un chanteur, producteur et compositeur de soul, ainsi qu'un acteur américain. Les parents d Isaac sont morts durant sa tendre enfance, ses grands parents l ont élevé. Il a commencé à chanter à 5 ans et appris tout seul à jouer du piano de l orgue et du saxophone. Il a déménagé à Memphis pour pouvoir jouer dans le circuit des clubs de la ville. Il fut membre de différents groupes, notamment Sir Isaac And The Doo-dads, les Teen Tones et Sir Calvin And His Swinging Cats. En 1962, il commença à enregistrer des chansons pour divers labels locaux.
