Isolation & Characterization of Klebsiella from Chevon:ESBL Production

This research focuses on the isolation and molecular characterization of Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL)-producing Klebsiella spp. from chevon, a type of goat meat, to assess their prevalence and evaluate the hygiene standards of local retail meat markets in and around Anand-Gujarat, India. The research underscores the significance of identifying and understanding the presence of these antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the food chain. This discovery raises concerns about the potential transmission of multidrug-resistant Klebsiella spp. strains to humans through the consumption of contaminated raw chevon.
