Rickards is an American lawyer, economist and investment banker with 35 years of experience on Wall Street, working in capital markets. He is a writer and is a regular commentator on finance and the emerging field of threat finance. Rickards advised clients of an impending financial collapse, of a decline in the dollar and a sharp rise in the price of gold, all years in advance. He believes the United States needs to go back to a gold standard and was one of the first to promote this view. Rickards is the author of the New York Times bestseller "Currency Wars. "Rickards graduated from Cape May High School in Cape May, New Jersey in 1969. He graduated from The Johns Hopkins University in 1973 with a B.A. degree with honors and in 1974, from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C. with an M.A. in international economics.
