Joel Hoffman (born 1953 in Vancouver) is an Canadian composer of contemporary classical music and pianist living in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a professor of composition at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the founder and director of the MusicX festival of new music which is held each summer at the Hindemith Music Centre in Blonay, Switzerland. He is also the current president of Chamber Music Cincinnati. Hoffman earned his bachelors degree from the University of Wales and a masters and doctorate from the Juilliard School. His teachers have included Elliot Carter, Roger Sessions, Milton Babbitt, and Vincent Persichetti.
