Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. John Leonard King, Baron King of Wartnaby (29 August 1917 - 12 July 2005) was a businessman famous for leading British Airways from an inefficient, nationalised company to one of the most successful airlines of recent times. This success was a flagship of Margaret Thatcher''s privatisation programme. King was born in Brentford, West London, and brought up in Dunsfold, Surrey. He left school without qualifications and entered the motor trade, succeeding in setting up his own business during the second World War. The business diversified into general engineering work, and after the war King relocated it to Yorkshire where it became a producer of ball bearings. The business grew to become a major operation spanning several continents and he sold it for Pds. 10m in 1968.
