Journey from Rapid Prototyping to Rapid Manufacturing

Rapid Prototyping is now a technology of two and half decades old. It is now high time to critically investigate the candidate rapid manufacturing processes which can be seamlessly interfaced with RP processes. In this book an attempt has been made to identify such suitable production processes for customized manufacturing methodology.The final chapter of the book discusses about the interfaces of some suitable manufacturing processes with the RP methodology. These interfaces are some time very much problematic and there are not at all seamless and hassle free in most of the cases. These interfaces are crucial for the success, survival and efficacy of the rapid manufacturing processes.In a nut shell the book exposes a reader about the developments of RP and RM processes for customized manufacturing domain. Somnath Chattopadhyaya is Associate Professor in the Dept. of ME&MME of ISM, Dhanbad, India. His area of Specialization is Advanced Manufacturing Systems.
