Kinetic Evaluation of Gas Liquid Reactions

The kinetics for this gas-liquid reaction is evaluated from the solubility of IB in toluene using ASPEN simulation and Henry's law constant is calculated. The diffusivity of IB in toluene is calculated based on Wilke-Chang equation. Mass transfer coefficient was found out from Sherwood number which is calculated by an established correlation (Sh=0.7082Re0.66Sc.) for gas-liquid reactions [3]. The enhancement factor for infinitely fast reaction was obtained, Hatta number for pseudo first order or instantaneous reaction was evaluated. The rate equation for mass transfer with gas-liquid reaction, assuming fast reaction with high concentration of toluene and reaction in the liquid film in zone near the interface, and order of the reaction were evaluated.
