Knowledge and adoption of bio- fertilizers by the sugarcane growers

The present study was conducted mainly with the objective to study knowledge and adoption of bio-fertilizers by the sugarcane growers. For the study, Latur district was selected purposively as from Marathwada region. Three talukas viz., Latur, Ausa and Nilanga were selected from district purposively and four villages from each talukas were selected purposively on the basis of area and production of sugarcane. Thus constituting the total sample size 120 respondents. Ex-post Facto research design was used for the study. As regard with the profile of sugarcane growers it was observed that 48.34 per cent had medium farming experience, 35.00 per cent had high school level of education, 38.34 per cent had marginal land holding category, 60.83 per cent had medium annual income, 46.67 per cent had low social participation, 55.83 per cent had medium extension contact, 47.50 per cent had medium sources of information, 57.50 per cent had medium level of innovativeness, 58.34 per cent had medium economic motivation, 65.00 per cent had medium risk orientation, 40.00 per cent had high level of knowledge and 39.17 per cent had medium level of adoption.
