Hospital acquired infections is a worldwide safety concern for both patients and healthcare professions. Hospital acquired infections have been associated with significant morbidity and attributable mortality as well as increased healthcare costs. The majority of healthcare professionals are nurses and therefore, nurses have the ability to facilitate safe patient care through infection prevention and control. Nurses can play a vital role in creating a culture of patient safety by applying knowledge into good practice and good attitudes towards infection prevention and control within hospital setups. This book is written to remind nurses on how their contribution to infection prevention and control can improve the patients' outcome. The book illustrates how nurses can translate knowledge into practice, how nurses' knowledge in infection prevention and control can influence the clinical environment. If nurses can take ownership of infection prevention and control, the burden of hospital acquired infections will be reduced.
