Knowledge based Software Process Improvement

Ever since the evolution of software development processes, software development organizations have given several successful products, and also have several projects failed. There could be so many reasons for these failures, and the significant one is software processes. These organizations lack a knowledge-base to survive the failures and sustain the processes. This book provides a new approach for software process improvement program which is driven by the proposed knowledge driven model, and is customizable as per the organization's profile, nature of product, types of people. It catalyses the learning processes in software organizations and builds its knowledge-base continuously. The model was implemented in five organizations and the results are encouraging and show a sustained improvement which are discussed as case studies along with the results and interpretations. These case studies are of help in deploying the KDM approach in software organizations to reap more successful project. Project heads and technical leads will be benefited in understanding how these knowledge based activities will help their teams' productivity increase with less effort and with sustained growth.
