Laboratory Manual in Soil Mechanics

This book as a Laboratory Manual in Soil Mechanics for soil tests has been prepared for laboratory practices that are related to Applied Geology, Mining, and Civil Engineering projects. It has been compiled to fulfill requirements for the course units in Soil Mechanics of the curriculum for Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. The manual indeed brings on board the essential procedures for testing and reporting the test results. Inclusion of typical test results in the manual is a unique effort that lacks in BS 1377 Manuals. It will empower the reader with additional knowledge before carrying out the soil tests. Index properties for both fine- and coarse-grained soils that are considered in classifying the soils have been covered in this book manual. Laboratory soil tests for determination of coefficient of permeability for fine and coarse soils have also been captured herein. An effort has been made to provide typical test results that should be anticipated by learners in their endeavour to perform the tests.The typical test results provided will motivate the learners and inculcate a positive attitude for expectation of meaningful results at the end of each test.
