beta-lactams have received wide use as key synthons for many biologicallyimportant classes of compounds in organic synthesis. Especially, the monocyclicbeta -lactams namely azetidinones, are an important part of thebeta-lactams antibioticscaffold, which are always obtained via classical Staudinger ketene-iminecycloaddition reaction and are known to exhibit interesting and broad biologicalactivities.
