LAND RIGHTS AND CONFLICTS IN ISIOLO DISTRICT OF KENYA

The book is generally about Claims and counter claims over land ownership rights by variuos ethnic groups in Isiolo district and how they legitimise their claim over land.it also shows how this claim have led to tension and sometimes violent conflicts between communities within isiolo district and even neighbouring districts. It state how multiple interests and categories of people have come into play and impinge on one another as they seek to acquire, defend and exercise claims on Land. It state key historical and socio-political dimension of land conflicts, factors causing conflicts, the procedures of acquiring land and interventions applied in land-based conflicts in Isiolo District.

Ms Saafo is a Kenyan born in 1977.She graduated from the University of Nairobi with Bachelors degree in Sociology(Major social work in 2001.She later joined Norwagian University of Life Sciences for Msc. in Development Studies from 2005-2007.She is currently working for Kenya Dryland Livestock Development Program/CNFA as gender specialist
