Land Suitability Analysis for Urban Green Areas
Details
The proportion of the world population that lives in urban areas is increasing at a growing pace. Redeveloping and planning green spaces and urban structure are becoming the essentials of urban planning of a city. Effective urban planning using new technologies including GIS might contribute to the physical and social development of the cities. Adding value to land and space within a city is an essential part of urban planning. Urban residents can show support for urban parks in the same fashion. They tend to assign high value on urban park systems, which will often display and promote the land value and the local economy. Consequently, urban parks and the general welfare of a city can often be correlated. The authors aim to present a framework to maintain ecological balance and organization of the urban green areas, using new techniques that help in effective decision making by urban planners. This will help to establish an ecological and more effective green network than the sum of the individual green spaces.
