Lasers in Pediatric Dentistry

Dental care and treatment are a very important health service for children because tooth decay and untreated dental problems might have serious repercussions on child's general health and well-being. Micro dentistry & prevention being the newer principle objectives of our profession, "Pediatric Laser Dentistry" is an advancement that fits into these concepts and can be child friendly as well. The use of Lasers in pediatric dentistry emphasis the need of "Efficient Behaviour management technique and Child's cooperation level. Laser supported dental diagnosis and treatment allows us to meet the important aim of 'filling without drilling'. With the use of lasers, sharp dental instruments, drilling sounds and vibration can be avoided, hence providing a less anxious and less painful, pleasant first dental visit which will help the child establish good dental habits. Recent advances in laser technology and research have set the stage of revolution in pediatric dental practice to provide optimal, preventive, interceptive and restorative dental care in a stress-free environment.
