Lean Manufacturing Implementation Barriers In Indian SMEs

Since the industrial revolution companies have been trying to come up with strategies to constantly improve the efficiency & quality of their operations and at the same time reduce expenditure and lead time. This planning and strategies have eventually developed into a management philosophy known as Lean Manufacturing Techniques. Lean Manufacturing Techniques (LMTs) is a set of tools and strategies which help the industry to first identify the different wastes or not- valuable assets in the industries & then provides a solution to minimize or completely rectify them. It pushes the industries to consistently analyze their bottlenecks and work towards rectifying them, thus resulting in continuous growth in productivity. LMTs were founded on the success of the Toyota Production System & has now become a benchmark for manufacturing companies developed as well as developing nations. Factors like Globalisation, Economic Development & Sustainable Development has further elevated the importance of Lean Manufacturing Techniques across the globe. Under such tremendous competition, India faces its own unique plethora of challenges.
