Learning needs of street children in Kenya

Existence of children living on the streets and roaming around the city is a pressing social problem that requires immediate address. The Kenyan society tends to have thrown some of the children, its future to the streets A quality relevant curriculum could change the street children s life and enable them to engage in gainful activities to earn a decent livelihood and contribute to national development. A first step in developing such a curriculum is a diligent exploration of the street children s needs. This book investigated the learning needs of the Street Children and proposes a possible curriculum for them.

Mrs Florence Kisirkoi is a PhD student and holds a Master of Education degree in curriculum studies and a Bachelor of Education degree in English and Literature. She lectures Curriculum Studies in University and is experienced in developing curriculum at the Kenya Institute Education. She has authored educational books for use in teacher training.
