Legal Framework against Child Abuse and Trafficking in Nigeria
Details
This book took a general look at the nature of child trafficking and abuse in Nigeria and ways to help in creating the necessary awareness by citizens. Also, the legal framework put in place by the legislation to combat this menace. The methodology adopted in this book was doctrinal. Both primary and secondary sources were employed in carrying out this book The finding of research is that as much as child abuse has been recognized and has a reliable statistic, trafficking on the other hand has no reliable estimation of the number of children trafficked internally and externally primarily because of its surreptitious nature. Several people have their reasons for these absurd acts but popular reasons are poverty, illiteracy, Ignorance and unemployment. No violence against a child is justifiable. It is recommended that Chapter II of the 1999 Constitution of The Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) should be made enforceable. The chapter has some basic provisions that could aid the adequate protection of a child right in Nigeria. Therefore, it is of paramount importance that the Federal and State Government ensure its full implementation.
