Lexical Collocations Across Written Academic Genres In English
Details
This book is where corpus and cognitive linguistic approaches meet based on sound evidence. The idea behind the thesis is ' grammmar is more than grammar, and words are more than words'. This thesis is inspiring as well as challenging in that it also shows possiblity and impossibility of language that also implies that collocations and collostructions go hand in hand in language use. It is challenging in that it poses serious questions to readers. Language cannot be delimited in spite of robust evidence with a relatively small data. This study also shows that collocations are conceptual in terms of its psychological and linguistic meaning. It also addresses pedagogic implications for second language acquisition in particular.Second language users can use this book as a small scale reference dictionary in academic writing.
