LIBERATION OF WOMEN IN THE BIBLE AND IN THE CHURCH is an in depth study pertaining to the emancipation of women. Women's liberation aims at restoring women's freedom and dignity which have been lost but possessed by them naturally.This is a humble effort to explore the progress on the front of empowerment of women starting from the time of the Old Testament. This book focuses on liberated women of the Old Testament, Jesus as the liberator of women, prominence of women in the Early Church, services of the Catholic Church to women's liberation through the ages in general and in the Catholic Archdiocese of Madurai in particular. I hope this book would contribute significantly to the domains of Women's Studies, Indian Historiography and Christian Studies.

Dr. S. Maria Packiam is presently working as Head & Associate Professor in the Department of History, Fatima College, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India since July 1982. She has presented more than 40 research papers in Seminars and Conferences and published more than 21 articles in Journals, Books and Proceedings. She has specialized in Christian Studies.
