Life cycle assessment of a Product in Glass Factory

The material is part of the partial fulfilment for the course of CBEg 6114- Industrial Ecosystems Engineering. The aim of this material is to assess glass product life cycle focusing on Addis Ababa Bottle and glass S.C of the potential that causing pollution to the environmental during such processing stage and indicating the potential stage of control and/or minimize environmental hazards. The origin of using packaging is trace back to the time when people began producing surplus product. This was so because storage and transportation of the surplus product necessitated the use of packaging. Life cycle assessment is a standard method, which is used to determine the environmental impacts of products, using and disposing the product through its entire life cycle. Now a day's glass manufacturing has become more scientific. Innovations such as changing from wood to coal furnaces revolutionized the manufacturing process. Life cycle assessment is a quantitative application of life cycle thinking for evaluating the life cycle environmental performance of a product or service.
