Details

This book shows its readers the complexity of street children phenomenon and highlights its contributory factors. The ultimate goal is to establish interventions that can save children from life difficulties. The street children phenomenon is a global challenge, though its nature and extent vary depending on geographical locations. Literature shows that developing countries tend to have more of this challenge, as compared to developed countries. This book is organised into six chapters, to aid clarity and comprehension of content by its readers. The introductory chapter one puts the street children phenomenon into context. In chapter two, readers are introduced to possible contributory factors to this challenge. While chapter three focuses at some forms of street children's livelihoods and life challenges, chapter four, examines some child protection instruments, domestic and international instruments. In chapter five we advance some strategies and interventions that can be adopted to safeguard the interests and welfare of children, inclusive of those living in the streets. Chapter six concludes the book.
