Linguistic creation of the relations between men and women

The linguistic analysis of this paper comprises a selection of features by Manuela Gretkowska and Janusz Korwin-Mikke. The languages of both sexes have been analyzed in order to show the way in which the images of women and men are created. The meanings of the feminist's and the antifeminist's texts have been considered significant not only on the pragmatic and semiotic level, but also on the cultural one. A great deal of attention has been devoted to the purely linguistic aspect and elements such as vulgarisms, diminutives, neologisms, aphorisms and new idioms have been analyzed in detail. The paper contains proof that both women and men still perceive each other in a very stereotypical way, which considerably affects relations between them.

Kamila Kuros-Kowalska is a speech therapist and a PhD student in the Department of Text and Discourse Linguistics in the Institute of Polish at the Faculty of Philology (the University of Silesia). She is a member of the Association of Polish Language Enthusiasts. Her academic interests revolve around sexual linguistics and bilingualism.
