Livelihood and Income Diversification Strategies in Niger State

Poverty incidence in Nigeria is higher among the rural-folks, that is, households that rely mainly on agricultural income. Income diversification is therefore seen as a way to secure income and to increase welfare of the farm households. The higher the degree of diversification of farm households, the better-off they are in terms of total income and livelihoods. So there is need to look beyond agriculture by farm households as a good strategy so as to augment their earning, increase their total income and improve their livelihood.
