Living in Emergency: Stories of Doctors Without Borders is a 2008 American documentary film about the work of Médecins Sans Frontières. It seeks to viscerally portray the real life of doctors in the field with the aim of encouraging a better understanding of their work and engaging people in the difficulties and dilemmas they face.The film was shot in Liberia after the Second Civil War and in the North-East of the Democratic Republic of Congo where there is still ongoing conflict after the Second Congo War. It premiered at the 2008 Venice Film Festival, made its U.S. debut at the 2009 Palm Springs International Film Festival and was shown at the 2009 Cinequest film festival, where it was awarded the Special Jury Award in the documentary category. It is scheduled to be released in 2009.
