Local Development and Culture Heritage Sites Management

Management of the World Heritage Sites is a critical issue in the world nowadays and its importance emerges from the economic value that they bring to the places and communities. This book shows how the management plan of World Heritage Sites can play a big role in the development of the local community and the surrounding area. It aims to set a general guidelines which may helps in the assessment of the management plan and see how far/close from Sustainable Development is a plan which seeks to improve the conservation of the heritage sites as well as the local communities and the surrounding areas. To undertake this, it uses a SWOT analysis to estimate, strengths weaknesses, opportunities and threats that may affect the development plans of Versailles and Veneria Reale the two case studies analyzed, and to detect the contribution of the communities in the decision making.
