Local governments and solid waste management

Changing technology, expanding industrialization and growing urban populations mean that the provision of waste disposal must continue to be improved. Thus, theoretical debates in important questions relating to solid waste management include The public choice theory that embraces democratic administration through governance giving the people what they want. The ideal of the people s popular choice implies that the actions of the government should be consistent with the values embraced in the solid waste management and the interests of the citizens in the local governments where by Mbarara Municipality fall according to the scope of the study. Mbarara Municipality is an area that experience solid waste with all its associated problems and various management policies have been put in a place as regards the National Environmental Management Authority polices (NEMA) and the Local Government Act (1997). Solid, management and Local Governments are inseparable in modern management approaches; environmentalists seek a shift from reclamation and disposal to prevention. This book tries to answer questions that fill the gaps.
