Looked At-Looking At

This work expresses the idea that women, in the same way as men, can take pleasure in Scopophilic, Fetishistic as well as Narcissistic Voyeurism as the viewers of twentieth century cinema. This work also investigates the female Exhibitionist in film in which they are in the position of power and control as the protagonist. Citing evidence through pyscho-analysis, film theory, cultural evolution and revolution and filmic examples, this work aims to better understand the modern female viewer.

Sophia Deeney is a graduate of the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland where she recieved a BA in Fine Art/Media in 2007. She continues her art practice in Ireland with a particular interest in illustration and exhibits her work locally and online.
