Machining dispersions and adjustments: lessons and corrected exercises is a book that can be used to name and evaluate the different types of dispersions involved in a machining operation, assess the capability of a machine tool and the manufacturing process, decide on the need for intervention to adjust cutting tools (using model parts, masters, hinged shims, stepped shims, etc.) or correct a work situation, guarantee production continuity and repeatability of machined part series. It includes a description and detailed corrected exercises relating to the presentation of machining dispersions, their measurement practices on the shop floor, the analysis of measurements taken by graphic methods (mechanical adjustment, drawing envelope lines, etc.) and/or analytical methods (MSP method (drawing histograms, calculating capability indicators and drawing up control charts), and the calculation of the adjustment dimensions required to resume production of parts in accordance with customer specifications and meet total quality requirements.

Souhir Gara, a mechanical engineer, graduated from the École Nationale d'Ingénieurs de Tunis (ENITTunisie) and teaches at the Institut Supérieur des Études Technologiques de Nabeul (ISETNTunisie). She holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering, specializing in mechanical construction and manufacturing, and holds the rank of master technologist in her profession.
