Making the Significant Significant

In his sociocultural study, Wheeler uses discourse analysis as a means to explore the powerful ways an accomplished 5th-grade teacher uses all facets of language to negotiate the meaning of text with her culturally and linguistically diverse students. Expansive in breadth and depth, this new line of research offers fresh insights into ways educators may reach students of all backgrounds and linguistic abilities.

Keith Wheeler received his PhD in Reading and Language Studies from Southern Illinois University in 2010. He currently teaches in the Intensive English Program at Southeast Missouri State University.
