Management of HER2 positive breast cancer
Details
Despite the evolution of therapeutic management, breast cancer remains one of the most frequent cancers in the world. This therapeutic evolution implies the appearance of new prognostic and predictive factors such as hormone receptors and the HER2 oncogene. Breast cancer tissue can be sensitive to steroid hormones (estrogen and progesterone), and is therefore referred to as hormone-dependent and hormone-sensitive cancer. As one of the most common gene alterations observed in this disease is the amplification of the HER2 oncogene leading to an overexpression of its oncoprotein, a new therapy has been developed. In our retrospective study over a period of three years, we found a stable incidence of breast cancer in the Military Regional University Hospital of Oran HMRUO, we also evaluated the therapeutic management. surgery, including mastectomy, remains the most used treatment just after adjuvant chemotherapy.
