Management of Major Pests of Tomato

This book is useful for plant protection scientists by knowing peak period of major pests of tomato and managing the pest accordingly. Because nowadays, tomato faces severe yield loss cause by different pests of India and major pests of tomato are leaf miner, fruit borer and whitefly which cause more than 50 percent yield loss. To avoid the yield losses caused by these destructive pest and encourage cultivation as well as to increase the production and productivity of tomato, our efforts are needed to tackle these pests by knowing the peak period of infestation in relation to the weather parameters, effective insecticides against these pest and knowing the residual effect of used chemical insecticides in field condition. Looking to the above facts in view, a research theme was undertaken as population dynamics and management of leaf miner, fruit borer and whitefly on tomato.

I (Kotak Jigar N.) completed M.Sc. Agriculture in the discipline of Entomology during 2018 from JAU, Junagadh. I worked under AAU as a JRF at Pulse Research Station, Model Farm, Vadodara during 2019 and currently, working under JAU in NAHEP-Component 2A project as a Technical Assistant at Director of Research, JAU, Junagadh since 2020.
