Open innovation practices for managing aesthetics with color and design choice for designed technical products are being conducted by firms but research for explaining open innovation practices is still required. Case study combined with survey method is employed as a combination of quantitative and qualitative research for conducting productive research. 4P model of innovation, open innovation model, product design process, digital prototyping and virtual customer environment are integrated for interpretation and explanation of the case study as open innovation practice for designed technical products.
