Mastering Spoken English

This course text is designed and written for the second language learner of English, Nigerians in particular. It is an attempt to explicate the nature of language in relation to the English language. This text provides a lucid explication of the spoken form of English through an exposition of the basic techniques and skills that aid the non-native speakers, users and learners in their effort to acquire a near-native competence in English . It is useful to all who wish to master the spoken form of English, especially those for whom English is not mother tongue or first language.

Dr Joseph Babasola Osoba is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos , Nigeria where he teaches courses in English Linguistics. His research interest includes sociolinguistics, pragmatics and phonetics and phonology. He has an appreciable number of scholarly works and has edited several books and journal articles.
