Materials Used In Maxillofacial Prosthesis

Maxillofacial Prosthetics is an emerging branch of prosthodontics concerned with the restoration,replacement of stomatognathic & craniofacial structures.The objective is to restore esthetic or cosmetic appearance & function of patient.Materials used in Maxillofacial Prosthesis are numerous with many shortcomings that limit their use.Prosthesis failure is caused mainly by colour change, poor maintenance, silicone tear and delamination. A number of materials are available and have been used for fabrication of maxillofacial prosthesis; the aim of this book is to provide some insight about the currently used maxillofacial prosthetic materials.
