Maternal and Newborn Complications Following Unplanned Cesarean

An unplanned C-section is when planning to have a vaginal birth, but a little while before the delivery physician decides that a C-section is best for mother and fetus. This decision can be made a few weeks, days, or even hours before giving birth. With an unplanned C-section, there may be no emergency, but the change in plans is made to put the mother and fetus onto the safest birth route. Emergency C-sections happen very quickly due to immediate concern for the health of the mother and/or fetus. The goal is that no more than 30 minutes
