Details

Exploring essential concepts in vibration analysis of mechanical systems, this text synthesizes the required mathematics, experimental techniques, fundamentals of model analysis, and beam theory into a unified framework accessible to undergraduate students.

Mechanical Vibrations: Modeling and Measurement describes essential concepts in vibration analysis of mechanical systems. It incorporates the required mathematics, experimental techniques, fundamentals of model analysis, and beam theory into a unified framework that is written to be accessible to undergraduate students, researchers, and practicing engineers. To unify the various concepts, a single experimental platform is used throughout the text. Engineering drawings for the platform are included in an appendix. Additionally, MATLAB programming solutions are integrated into the content throughout the text.

Discusses model development using frequency response function measurements Presents a clear connection between continuous beam models and discrete finite degree of freedom models Includes MATLAB code for numerical examples that is integrated in the text narrative Covers a single physical model that is used to demonstrate concepts throughout the text Uses mathematics to support the vibrations theory, and discusses and emphasizes the practical significance of the results Request lecturer material: sn.pub/lecturer-material

Autorentext
Professor Schmitz has been working in mechanical vibrations for well over 15 years and has developed methods to enable mechanical engineers to apply vibrations fundamentals to common industrial problems. In addition he has assembled extensive course notes, case studies, exercises, problem sets and developed MATLAB code. A complete solutions manual is available as well.

Klappentext

Mechanical Vibrations:Modeling and Measurement describes essential concepts in vibration analysis of mechanical systems. It incorporates the required mathematics, experimental techniques, fundamentals of modal analysis, and beam theory into a unified framework that is written to be accessible to undergraduate students, researchers, and practicing engineers. To unify the various concepts, a single experimental platform is used throughout the text to provide experimental data and evaluation. Engineering drawings for the platform are included in an appendix. Additionally, MATLAB programming solutions are integrated into the content throughout the text. This book also:

  • Discusses model development using frequency response function measurements

  • Presents a clear connection between continuous beam models and finite degree of freedom models Includes MATLAB code to support numerical examples that are integrated into the text narrative

  • Uses mathematics to support vibrations theory and emphasizes the practical significance of the results. Mechanical Vibrations:Modeling and Measurement is an ideal book for undergraduate students, researchers, and practicing engineers alike who are interested in developing a more thorough understanding of essential concepts in vibration analysis of mechanical systems.
