This book is based on an empirical research of a tribal village of Jharkhand state of India with a view to depict the health situation of the population living there. The book has touched upon aspects like environment and health, demography and cultural epidemiology, concepts of diseases-associated beliefs and treatments, ethno-history and cultural background and the like. The ethnographic approach has been used to depict the cultural background and cultural epidemiology of the tribal population of the village with an emphasis on the Asur tribe. Both qualitative as well as quantitative understandings, of the health situation of the tribal village, have been portrayed in this book within a backdrop of an ecological niche.
Autorentext
Shyamal Kumar Nandy(b.1958) obtained Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Calcutta. Dr. Nandy joined Anthropological Survey of India in the year 1986 and presently holding the post of Research Associate in Cultural Anthropology. Dr. Nandy is a Life Member of The Asiatic Society and was an invited member of The New York Academy of Sciences.
