Medical Tourism Market in Turkey and Reverse Innovation

In recent years, a striking rapid-growth has been occurred in Turkish medical tourism market. This study aims to analyze stakeholders, interactions, destination governance, reverse innovation and the role of central government (i.e. Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health) in Turkish medical tourism market. Further, the study introduces medical tourism data sets of 2013-2014 that were produced by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health in a comparative manner. In this respect, some categorical distinctions (i.e. medical tourism, tourists' health, hospital types and so forth) have been made for using and applying datasets, properly. In a legal and consistent way, permission was taken from the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Health authorities in order to use these datasets within the framework of this investigation. The objective of this study is to shed lights on scientists and practitioners who work on subjects that are relevant to the Turkish medical tourism research field. Likewise, this investigation is the first attempt that links up reverse innovation and stakeholder approach as a holistic strategy and competitive advantage tool in Turkish medical tourism market.
