Herbal medicines as the key remedy in traditional system of medicine have been used in medical practices since antiquity. The practices continue today as of its biomedical benefits as well as place in cultural beliefs in many parts of world and have made a great contribution towards maintaining human health. Traditional knowledge driven bioprospecting offers access to multiple targets that can provide safer and more cost effective platform for newer scaffolds to facilitate drug discovery. The presence of various health sustaining constituents in plants have activated scientists to examine these plants with a view to determine potential medicinal values. The present cram endeavors to weigh up some of the ethobotanical plants for their pharmacological effectiveness in treating a few ailments. However, further studies are obligatory to put on more insight in revealing out the precise mechanisms underlying these effects.
