Our present book Medicinal Plants of Bangladesh,Volume-II: Chemical Constituents and Bioactivities oftwo Burseraceous sp. describes the chemicalconstituents and antimicrobial activities Burseraserrata and Garuga pinnata belonging to the familyBurseraceae.This book comprising of five chapterswill provide practical information about how toconduct chemical and biological studies of medicinalplants. Extensive analyses of spectroscopic dataallowed complete and unambiguous structuralcharacterization of 15 compounds of which 4 appear tobe new. It is hoped that this book would be a usefulguide to the students of Pharmacy, Chemistry,Biochemistry, Botany, Microbiology and TraditionalSystems of Medicines.This book by Ara et al., is the second volume in theseries of books published from our group. Bangladeshbeing a subtropical country is a good repository ofmedicinal plants, many of which are used by thetraditional healers and tribal people for preventionand treatment of various diseases. A thorough andscientific study especially bioassay guided isolationmay result in the discovery of many chemicallyinteresting and biologically active candidates fordrug development.
