Menopause is derived from Greek word Men (month) Pausis (cessation).During menopause ovarian follicles are depleted and this is probably secondary to increase in FSH stimulation.Major health problems arise at the time of menopause and attention is known focused on cardiovascular diseases and osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. The study comprised of 40 subjects, classified into 2 groups each, with 20 subjects from the department of endocrinology, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati. We discussed about comparison of bone mineral area, bone mineral content, T-Score and Z-Score in BMD in pre menopausal and post menopausal women in our study. post menopausal women selected in this work is ( 39.50 + 52.84) there is not much difference in the serum levels of calcium, phosphorus, Alkaline Phosphate among the pre and post menopausal women.Bone mineral content is decreased in postmenopausal women with statistical significance and T-score and Z-score of BMD indicates osteopaenia or osteoporosis in all post menopausal women.
