MENTAL RETARDATION, AUTISM AND STUTTERING

This book is written to promote awareness among the general public about the nature, etiology, treatment and management of mental retardation, autism and stuttering. The author has included some of her innovative and indigenous research work on the effectiveness of Token Economy Technique as a method of teaching basic skills to the mentally retarded children. She has courageously pointed out the hazards involved in the mindless application of the Western Intelligence testing in Pakistani school system and clinical setting. It is hoped that this book would be of immense value for the students of psychology, psychiatry, social work, sociology and education across the globe. It is written in a simple language with real life illustrations derived from the clinical and research-based rehabilitation programs introduced by this author in the Pakistani society. The main objective of this book is that the parents, family members, caregivers, mental health professionals and teachers of such children should get the necessary tips and learn how to handle and manage such children in order to facilitate the process of their development and growth at an optimal level throughout their life cycle.
